RCNA Millenium Reunion in Digby
Approximately 1200 members of the RCNA and their spouses attended this event.
Our Toronto Wrens made up about thirty of that number and we all had a very good
time. It is amazing what the South-Shore Naval Association were able to achieve
in a location that was 100 km from their club, with only one hotel and no
convention facilities. Of course, Digby was chosen for being close to
Cornwallis.
Ingenuity won the day, and with the cooperation of the Mayor (an ex-stoker) it
was possible to move mountains and the townspeople also became involved.
Accommodation was found as close as possible to Digby, with bus transportation
provided. All events, excluding the parade, were held in the skating rink.
Registration took place in the adjacent arena where we found some local crafts
on display and for sale. Even a food court was set up with vendors from
restaurants and fast food outlets providing light meals on the spot.
More to follow.
