Memorial Statue

"As you know the original memorial idea was to commemorate the Service Women of W.W. 2.

If the memorial shown by Betty Boothroyd, which many consider an insult to service women, is allowed to be built with the rumored inscription - Now the war is over they have hung up their coats and gone back from whence they came. - then it is a travesty and an insult to the 640,000 service women who went to war for Great Britain.

Many sacrificed the best years of their lives and many others sacrificed their lives completely, never to return to whence they came.

If this memorial is built Great Britain will be a country without a memorial to its service women.

Our suggestion at this point, if the current memorial cannot be scrapped, is to place the original three bronze figures representing Army, Navy and Air Force women on top of the plinth.  The money contributed by so many ex-service women was done so based on the original three figure concept as was promised in 1998 by Major D. Robertson, (ret'd).

It is not too late ladies to raise your voices.  The louder the roar the better for us.  Go for it!"
